Images leaked of massive grille with upcoming BMW behind it

The new 4 Series debuts tomorrow, but someone just shared the brochure online

Just one day before the big reveal of BMW’s redesigned 4 Series, photos of the vehicle have leaked online.

Photos of the vehicle were posted on the BMWorldM Instagram account, and appear to show a PR brochure for the new 4 Series with the vehicle visible from a few different angles.

Just like we’d feared, it seems the Bavarian automaker is sprucing up the sedan with design cues from the new X7 SUV, which means a massive upright kidney grille that dominates the front fascia.

The giant kidney grilles, to us, look like Bugs Bunny’s buck teeth, and take most of the available real estate away from any other styling that could be done. I mean, there are other design elements present, probably, but we certainly didn’t notice them, except for the weird vents and intakes that surround the grille.

Shifting to the side profile, we see the new 4 Series draws inspiration, too, from the new top-line 8 Series, which makes for an attractive and svelte silhouette — it almost makes up for that face. The roofline even elegantly sweeps into the trunk area, like a real coupe should.

The 4 Series is similar to the 3 Series, so will feature a similar lineup of 2.0-litre four-cylinder and 3.0-litre six-cylinder engines. A range of 420i, 430i and M440i xDrive gasoline models will be offered, along with with 420d and 430d diesel models in Europe.

Being a BMW, an M4 model will also be forthcoming, featuring a hopped-up twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre six-cylinder with 503 horsepower and 442 lb.-ft. of torque.
